Authorities are searching for two suspects in connection with a robbery where the owner of a market in Newark was gunned down.
Police found 37-year-old Miguel Torres shot inside JNC Mini Market on 14th Avenue on the city's West Side at around 6 p.m. last night. He was pronounced dead at University Hospital, according to the prosecutor's office.
Acting Essex County Prosecutor Carolyn Murray says that the armed robber was wearing a striped Adidas jacket and his face was covered by a mask. Another man served as a lookout. The prosecutor's office says the robber demanded cash, but got angry when Torres didn't hand it over fast enough.
Investigators are reviewing surveillance video from around the area for leads and are asking for help. Anyone with any information should call the Essex County Prosecutor's TIPS Line at 1-877-847-7432.
