March Madness is back in New Jersey for the first time in 14 years.
Fans of Duke, Alabama, Arizona and BYU headed to the Garden State for the NCAA Sweet Sixteen on Thursday and for the Elite Eight on Saturday.
For some fans, it was their first time in New Jersey. The Prudential Center’s sold-out crowd got a good slate of games, with Duke and Alabama making up the top two seeds in the East region.
There is one New Jersey native on the court - Alabama freshman Naas Cunningham is from West Orange.
Believe it or not, Duke is New Jersey’s “local” team. They are the closest team to Newark, about 500 miles away in Durham, North Carolina.
The winners of Saturday’s Elite Eight contest will head to the Final Four in San Antonio.
