A man from Manhattan is facing charges after police say he hit a police officer with his car in January in Paramus, according to authorities.
They say the Paramus police officer was investigating car burglaries and stolen credit cards at the Westfield Garden State Plaza shopping mall. During the investigation, police say Manuel Jimenez, 23, tried to drive away and hit the officer.
The officer suffered a knee injury.
An investigation into the incident revealed Jimenez was also responsible for making fraudulent purchases with the stolen credit cards.
Jimenez was arrested Monday at his residence in New York. He's charged with aggravated assault, fraudulent use of credit cards, impersonation and identity theft.
Jimenez is currently being held at the New York Yonkers intake unit awaiting extradition to face charges.
