While the Monmouth County Prosecutor?s office investigates an alleged abduction and assault, Manalapan residents say they feel left in the dark about information.

Residents say they heard reports of the abduction and assault of a 13-year-old girl in a park near the Southfield Estates Thursday. Some residents saw police officers in the area the night of the alleged attack. Other residents say since they were told by police not to worry, they believe the teen may have been familiar with her attacker.

Monmouth County Prosecutor Luis Valentin says while an investigation into the incident is taking place he can?t comment on the case. Valentin adds that protocols must be followed before any details are released.
