A Monmouth County family is heartbroken after someone stole Halloween decorations that had immense sentimental value.
Jon-Michael and Christina Kennedy were shocked when they discovered that two of their large inflatable decorations, plus several smaller ones were missing Wednesday morning from their Manalapan home.
The Kennedys received the decorations from a family friend who was terminally ill. The friend wanted them to have the decorations and continue the Halloween spirit.
"That's her memory," says Christina Kennedy. "For someone to come and just take that from us? It's unacceptable and it's heartbreaking."
The alleged thieves also took the stakes and screws that were holding the decorations into the ground.
The family has filed a police report, but they say that they just want their decorations back.
"If whoever took it could just drop it off on the lawn, no questions asked. Please return it," Christiana Kennedy says.
Anyone who may know more about the thefts is asked to contact the Manalapan Police Department.
