Man fatally hit near disabled car on Route 15 in Sparta

A man was killed Tuesday night after being found in the roadway on Route 15 in Sparta.
Police said they located a 63‑year‑old man near the 9‑mile marker around 8:30 p.m. as bystanders attempted CPR.
He was taken to a hospital, where he died from his injuries.
Police said he had been standing outside a car parked on the shoulder when he was struck by a passing commercial vehicle.
Sparta police asked any witnesses to contact the department.
