A man accused of driving drunk and fleeing the scene after a fatal crash in Mountainside is now behind bars.

Authorities say 35-year-old Fabian Parra is facing several charges and is being held in the Essex County Jail.

Prosecutors say Parra was intoxicated when he ran a red light on Route 22 last week and struck a bicyclist.

Investigators say Parra continued driving after the crash before he was arrested about three miles away.

The victim was identified as 65-year-old Rocco Della Serra of Cranford.

According to his obituary, Della Serra recently retired from the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities after more than 40 years of service.

A funeral Mass for Della Serra is being held Thursday in Westfield.
