A man accused of leaving a dog to drown in a cage in Highlands is out of jail this morning.
Police say Aaron Davis will now go to trial on charges of animal cruelty.
A person walking her own dog in Veterans Memorial Park spotted the abandoned dog in July and rescued it from the rising tide.
A state appellate court overturned a ruling that said Davis should remain in jail until his trial date.
