yesterdayA North Bergen man is facing charges for allegedly kidnapping and sexually assaulting a 14-year-old girl in Secaucus.
The Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office says Secaucus police were notified of the assault at a motel on Route 3. They say that 43-year-old Jesus Ruiz Merino approached the teen in West New York and offered her a ride. They say he drove the teen to the motel and sexually assaulted her.
Officials say the incident happened on Monday. Ruiz Merino was arrested at his home on Thursday.
He is being held at the Hudson County Correctional Center pending his first court appearance.
