Police say they've arrested a man accused of fatally shooting his father-in-law in Carteret.
They say 32-year-old Douglas Rodriguez turned himself in and is being held at the Middlesex County Adult Corrections Center.
Rodriguez is accused of shooting his father-in-law several times over a dispute Friday night in the parking lot of the Knights of Columbus on High Street in Carteret, according to prosecutors.
The victim, 49-year-old Roberto Laure-Ano, died at the hospital.
Authorities say Rodriguez fled after the shooting, but turned himself in Saturday night.
It's unknown at this time what sparked the dispute, and it's not clear if either of the men are affiliated with the Knights of Columbus.
Rodriguez is charged with murder in the first degree, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He's due in court Wednesday.
