Wayne crews were dealing with an unusual sewer problem early Tuesday after a line carrying a large amount of pickle juice broke and forced a road closure.

The Wayne Department of Public Works said the break involved a sewer line near Patriot Pickle on Edison Drive.

Police shut down Edison Drive between Hanes Drive and Riverview Drive as crews worked to repair the damaged line.

Officials said the sewer contained a significant amount of pickle juice, complicating cleanup and repairs.

As work continued in Wayne, another infrastructure failure prompted emergency repairs in Fair Lawn as a water main break was reported early Tuesday on Morlot Avenue.

Public works and emergency crews were sent to the scene to stabilize the damaged main.

Police said Morlot Avenue is closed between John Street and Saddle River Road during repairs.

Crews in both towns continued working through the morning to restore normal conditions.
