Many Long Islanders have white vinyl fences, and many may not know that their fence was manufactured locally. Adam Glatz knows a thing or two about backyard fences. He is the vice president of UVX Universal Extruders in West Babylon.
As a former engineer at Grumman Aerospace, Adam used his manufacturing background to start UVX Universal Vinyl Extruders in 2004.
"A good friend of mine who owns Liberty Fence approached me and said, Adam, I need to extrude fencing material. I said extrude? I figured it out. A month later, he called me to say that he had ordered the machine, that it was coming in a month, and that I needed someone to run it. I guess that's me," said Adam.
Everything is made from the ground up. "We started selling to local fence companies, and then we were making more and more, and now we're selling it throughout the states." There is a lifetime warranty on his product and his dedication.
