Luna Park to debut two new rides this summer
With the summer comes excitement, and now, the opening of new rides at one of New York City's most iconic attractions.
Coney Island's Luna Park will debut a new roller coaster, "Tony's Express," and a log flume, "Leti's Treasure," this summer.
The two rides are set to be intertwined, to provide guests with an experience that showcases innovation and the rich heritage of Coney Island - the vehicle and boat designs pay homage to Coney Island's historic attractions such as the Switchback Railway and The Chutes, while the illuminated station house, archways, and tracks reestablishes Luna Park as "The Electric Eden."
"Tony's Express" is a family friendly coaster and bends and curves around "Leti's Treasure" at more than 40 mph, with more than 1,200 feet of track to cover. The coaster has two trains equipped with ADA access.

"Leti's Tresure" is a massive log flume that will operate with 12 flume boats that seat up to six guests per ride, lifting riders 40 feet into the air, giving ride-goers a semi-circle panoramic view of Coney Island's shore line, before the 35 feet plunge that gives you a big splash.
The new rides pay tribute to Central Amusement International president and CEO, Alessandro Zamperla's, grandparents, the late Antonio and Letizia Zamperla. Luna Park is owned by Central Amusement International.
Antonio Zamperla was the first Italian inducted into the International Association of Amusement Parks and Attractions Hall of Fame in 2005 thanks to his significant contributions to the amusement industry, while his wife, Letizia, used to drive tractor-trailers loaded with rides across Europe.
Letizia Zamperla often played by the Piave River in Italy as a child, the inspiration behind the name of the super flume attraction "Leti's Treasure."
The amusement park will also unveil a 50 foot, custom designed "Sky Chaser Ropes Course" and pedestrian plazas as part of this year's expansion, where the park is developing 5 acres along the Coney Island Boardwalk and Surf Avenue, increasing Luna Park's size by up to 50%.

The park looks to create an additional 100 jobs with its expansion, and increase tourism in southern Brooklyn.
