A wake was held Sunday for a slain 11-year-old girl at the Jacqueline Ryan Funeral Home in Keansburg.

Family and friends paid their respects to AbbieGail Smith.

Smith's body was found wrapped in a blanket on the roof of her apartment building on July 13. The discovery came just hours after she was reported missing.

Investigators say Smith was stabbed in the neck. Her upstairs neighbor Andreas Erazo has been charged with the her murder.

Smith's funeral will be held Monday morning following a Mass at Saint Ann's Church.

Smith's death sparked widespread coverage when her father, who lives in Jamaica, pleaded with President Donald Trump for permission to attend the funeral. Kennish Smith had been deported from the US for a drug offense 16 years ago and was recently denied a visa, leaving him unable to attend the services for his child.
