On this Valentine’s Day, love in one form or another could be found all over the Garden State.
Some couples took their love to the next level by getting married at the Bergen County Clerk’s Office. Several couples tied the knot in special Valentine’s Day ceremonies.
“I don’t typically like Valentine’s Day, so we figured we might as well make it special for us to get married on Valentine’s Day,” said Norma Matar who married her sweetheart David Cerbasio.
Other New Jerseyans made a different type of lifetime commitment at a Valentine’s Day adoption ceremony. Alana Purkett adopted her seventh child – a boy she named Syven. The Newark resident had been caring for the boy as a foster parent.
“The love is there. It’s in my heart. I mean, and if I could help more, I would,” Purkett said.
And what is a valentine’s day without some sweet treats? Dayton Homemade Chocolates and Gift Baskets in Clifton was a popular spot this Valentine’s Day.
“I stumbled across it because I live local,” said one customer. “But after trying it, the chocolate just melts in your mouth. It makes great gifts.”
U.S. troops were in the hearts of the residents of Brandywine Senior Living in Pennington. The seniors made and sent off their Valentines to troops stationed in South Korea. Those troops received them in time for Valentine’s Day.
