Longtime News 12 anchor Carol Silva announced her retirement this morning on News 12 Long Island's early morning show.
Silva is a native Long Islander, raised in Hicksville, and a graduate of Holy Trinity High School. She attended Nassau Community College, the University of Dayton and New York Institute of Technology, which awarded her an Honorary Doctorate in 2018 for her professional and community work.

Silva joined News 12 Long Island in its first three months as a field reporter, but started anchoring six days later, and she has remained in the anchor seat of News 12 ever since.
Silva will be leaving the anchor desk in December.
