Long Islanders are remembering Jones Beach’s longest serving lifeguard, Reggie Jones Sr.

The Jones Beach Lifeguard Corps. announced the legendary lifeguard passed away over the weekend.

Reggie was not only the longest serving lifeguard at the beach, but he also made a try for the Guinness World Record.

For 63 years, Jones helped save swimmers from the waters off Nassau. He served from 1944 to 2007.

Many Long Islanders knew Reggie and he will be sorely missed by all.
