The longest nonstop flight in the world landed at Newark Liberty International Airport this morning.
The flight was a total of 17 hours and 22 minutes from Singapore to Newark and covered 9,537 miles.
The record-setting flight took off at 11:45 p.m. Singapore time, and is due to touched down Friday around 6 a.m.
An Airbus A350-900ULR plane was used to make this nonstop journey.
Airlines have been asking the plane makers Boeing and Airbus to create planes capable of longer direct routes.
The cabin has no economy class but offers 67 business class seats and 94 premium economy.
News 12 New Jersey has been told that prior to take off from Singapore, business class tickets were sold out.
There were still premium economy seats available for $2,155.
Qantas Airlines has also promised a 20-hour direct flight from London to Sydney by 2022.
