A lockdown has been lifted at U.S. Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, according the
base.
Emergency response personnel responded to reports of an active shooter at the base at around 10:58 a.m., according to a press release from U.S. Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst.
Base emergency protocols were activated, and law enforcement officials arrived on the scene. No active shooter threat was found. The base resumed normal operations at 11:57 a.m.
Workers at nearby business tell News 12 they had to lock their doors as well.
"Our priority is the safety and security of everyone on the installation," said Col. Michael Stefanovic, Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst commander," We worked closely with local law enforcement and emergency responders to ensure the situation was investigated and resolved as quickly as possible."
