Linden police say a 27-year-old man was arrested for slamming his car into several police cruisers and assaulting two officers with Mace he snuck into the police station.
According to police, the suspect drove his SUV into the Linden police parking garage just before 4 p.m. Tuesday and rammed into a police truck.
He then sped away with Linden police in pursuit. During the chase, the suspect crashed into several vehicles, including at least two Linden police cars near West Henry and Spruce streets.
One of the police officers whose car was crashed into was able to get out and wrestle the suspect to the ground before arresting him.
Linden police say that while the suspect was inside the police station, he managed to get to a lipstick-sized can of Mace that he snuck in and sprayed it at two police officers.
The police were able to use their own Mace spray on the suspect and subdued him. He was taken to Trinitas Hospital for evaluation.
Police did not release the suspect's name.
