A group of high school students in Monmouth County has put their math skills to good work by advancing all the way to the finals of a national competition.
The team of five from High Technology High School in Lincroft was chosen out of over 4,000 11th- and 12th-graders to compete in the MathWorks Math Modeling Challenge.
Wendy Yihan Wu, Adithya Paramasivam, Eric Chai, Steven Liu and Kyle Lui will head to New York City this month to show off their math intelligence and creative thinking.
The students say putting together the models required for the contest takes four hours each, at least.
Students from the school have won the competition twice in the past.
