RIDGEWOOD, N.J. (AP) -- A New Jersey library will be offering cardholders thousands of classic, art house and foreign films to download and stream through its new streaming service.
The service, Kanopy, will be offered to patrons of Ridgewood Public Library and will allow four downloads a month. The Record reports Ridgewood joins Mahwah, Westwood, Wood-Ridge, Maplewood and Jersey City in offering the service.
Library spokeswoman Larissa Brookes says the titles on demand are "thoughtful entertainment" and each download lasts for 72 hours with no cost to residents. Nonprofit Friends of the Ridgewood Library is funding the price per download paid to Kanopy.
Cardholders can register for the service though a link on their library's website. Once registered, users can watch the movies on any device that supports the service's app.
