Friday marks the fifth anniversary of former Rutgers football player Eric LeGrand's spinal cord injury.
LeGrand was badly injured during a game against the Army Black Knights at MetLife Stadium in 2010 when he collided with another player. The injury left him paralyzed from the neck down.
LeGrand was at the Kessler Institute in West Orange getting treatment Thursday. Machines stimulate his body, which allows him to sit up and move his shoulders and fingers.
Since the injury, the Eric LeGrand Foundation has been raising money to help find a cure so LeGrand and people like him can walk again.
He is asking his fans to help raise at least $52,000 this year for spinal cord research. LeGrand's number while playing for Rutgers was No. 52.
