A lawsuit was filed in New Jersey against Volkswagen following accusations the company used software that helped vehicles pass emissions tests.
Ari Levin is a plaintiff in the lawsuit against Volkswagen. He says he was duped and wants his money back. Levin says he bought a Jetta diesel thinking that he was doing his part to save the environment.
However, last week Volkswagen admitted to selling cars with software rigged to cut emissions when being tested. The company has recalled 500,000 vehicles.
Attorney Jay Rice says the company not only defrauded people who purchased vehicles, but also the dealers who sold them.
A number of class-action lawsuits have already been filed. In addition, a criminal investigation of the German automaker is now underway.
