Firefighters are on the scene of a large fire at a Brick Township condominium complex.

The fire broke out around 4 p.m. at the Ocean Club Condominiums on the 400 block of Ocean Boulevard. Plumes of black smoke could be seen rising out of the buildings.

At least 18 units were reportedly damaged by the fire. It was not clear if any injuries were reported.

Brick Township police are asking motorists to avoid Route 35 near Brick Beach No. 3 while crews work to extinguish the fire.
