The Lakewood School District has announced that it plans to bring students back full-time once school starts in September.
Other schools around the state have announced that they will have a hybrid reopening plan, with some in-person and virtual learning.
But Lakewood school officials say that the district will have a five-day schedule beginning in September. Students and staff will be offered COVID-19 testing every two weeks, but it will not be required.
The district says that it met with parents and community leaders and that the main concern was parents going back to work. The district said that leaving schools closed means leaving children home alone.
Officials also said that students have the right to an education in a safe and healthy environment.
This comes as the New Jersey Education Association voiced concerns about teachers and students returning to the classroom in September.
