A Lakewood man is being charged in the kidnapping of his girlfriend and their baby.
Ocean County prosecutors say they received a 911 call from the girlfriend on Tuesday night. Police say Gerson Aguilar-Lara, 24, had forced the woman and infant into a Chevrolet Equinox and fled the residence. The next day, police say they tracked Aguilar-Lara’s car to a parking lot on Route 37 in Toms River. Police say he fled on foot but was taken into custody by officers and was arrested shortly thereafter. Aguilar-Lara was transported to Jackson Township Police Headquarters.
The girlfriend and child were not harmed, according to authorities.
Aguilar-Lara was charged with kidnapping, endangering the welfare of a child and robbery.
