A restaurant in Mott Haven is introducing the Bronx to Oaxacan culture and cuisine.
La Morada, on Willis Avenue and East 141st Street, is a family-owned restaurant that specializes in Oaxacan food. It is one of only two Oaxacan restaurants in New York City.
The region of Oaxaca is in southern Mexico, near Central America. Oaxacan food differs from cuisine from the northern and coastal gulf parts of Mexico due to the region's climate.
The restaurant has been open for five years.
