New Jersey Transit's fare holiday may be over, but the transit woes continue.
Last week's circuit breaker outages and a brush fire on one of the hottest days of the year caused delays and cancellations on both NJ Transit and Amtrak routes.
Although the fare holiday ended, riders are still experiencing delays, and satisfaction is waning.
Rep. Mikie Sherrill (D-NJ) is calling for Transportation Secretary Pete Buttigieg to investigate Amtrak's use of $6 billion in bipartisan infrastructure funding for repairs.
A joint report by NJ Transit and Amtrak identified increased maintenance activities following Northeast Corridor disruptions in May and June.
NJ Transit has yet to release final statistics from the fare holiday period.
