What should have been just a run-of-the-mill police ride along for News 12 New Jersey's John Klekamp turned into a whole lot more.

Klekamp and photographer Ryan Beckman were riding with the Essex-Union Auto Theft Task Force Thursday, joining them on a search for stolen cars. Then a call came in - Irvington police in pursuit of a Honda Accord that struck a cruiser and sped off.

Sgt. Robert Deich, driver of the vehicle Klekamp and Beckman were riding in, joined the chase in third position. The driver of the Honda was able to lose his pursuers and avoid capture, but Deich says they'll be keeping an eye out for him.
