A group of young Bronx residents are looking to add more color to their world, and after a major setback, they're getting their wish. 

Dozens of kids from the Renaissance Youth Center set out to improve Unity Park on East 168th Street back in August by painting the walls a salmon color. However, less than one month later, the Parks Department painted over their hard work. 

The kids got back to work, gathering signatures around the community for a petition, until they received permission from parks officials to paint again this spring. 

Renaissance officials say that it was all about the kids learning empowerment and taking action to improve things within their community. 

According to the Parks Department, there was some confusion about the original permit, which was approved for the paint job. The department is now paying for the supplies the kids need for their next project.
