A proposal to track illegal immigrants in Monmouth County has been denied by Keyport Borough Council. The ordinance, proposed by Councilman Joseph Wedick, would have monitored illegal immigrants and their housing situations. He says his intentions were to help Keyport with overcrowding. Wedick has taken criticism from every direction since he proposed the measure. Its final chance was shot down by a 5-1 council vote.Members of Keyport council say they will continue to monitor overcrowding and feel enforcing existing law can solve the problem.
