Republican state Sen. Tom Kean Jr. withdrew his name for the position of lieutenant governor Friday.
Kean says he has no interest in the job.
Both gubernatorial candidates, Republican Chris Christie and Democrat Gov. Jon Corzine, have remained tight-lipped about who they will choose as running mates. Christie has stated that his running mate doesn't have to agree on all of his views, but should be compatible with him personally.
Other contenders for the position on the Republican side include Sen. Diane Allen.
