There is some concern among health officials after President Donald Trump held a fundraiser at Trump National Golf Course in Bedminster just hours before he was officially diagnosed with COVID-19.
Gov. Phil Murphy and Health Commissioner Judith Persichilli have urged everyone who attended the event to self-quarantine and get tested for the virus.
One of the attendees of the event was New Jersey actor and comedian Joe Piscopo – who described what he saw at the event.
“A lot of folks had masks on. I had mine with me. But again, I’m a germaphobe, I’m worried about it…and don’t forget, it was way outside.”
Piscopo says that the president did not appear to shake anyone’s hand after speaking to the crowd.
“He came out from the doorway, went to the presidential podium and then spoke. And then he went right from there, didn’t shake one hand. I didn’t see anything, like that,” Piscopo said.
Trump and first lady Melania Trump announced early Friday morning that they tested positive for the virus. Both are said to have “mild” symptoms. White House officials say that Trump is “fatigued” but is still working while quarantining.
