The JFK Medical Center in Edison is celebrating its 50th anniversary.
Some of the hospital’s first patients admitted gathered Monday to celebrate and share their experiences. Among them was a family from Metuchen whose child was the first baby born at JFK.
The hospital had just 200 beds when it first opened. Maternity care for the community was one of the main reasons the hospital was founded.
It is now one of New Jersey’s most comprehensive facilities.
