The beginning of the long Memorial Day weekend begins Friday, and many more beaches and boardwalks along the Jersey Shore will reopen, as others have been open for a few days.
This includes Asbury Park. Beaches are open and ready for the big weekend, but visitors will see lots of changes, especially when it comes to purchasing beach badges.

Changes are already in place in anticipation of the kick-off to summer weekend at the Jersey Shore, most noticeably, the boardwalk has been turned into designated walking lanes, with arrows telling people what way to walk.
It’s just like when you're on the roads: keep right when you can to maintain proper social distancing.
Safety features are also in place, including hand sanitizing stations at all of the beach entrances.
Lifeguards will be on duty, and swimming will be allowed.
Masks are to be worn when on the boardwalk, entering and exiting the beach and in the public restrooms. Convention Hall will remain closed, but the restrooms will be open.

“We don't have any idea how many season pass holders will be on the beach at one time, so what we will do is we will monitor that, and when it gets to the point that we can't safely distance, we will stop selling our daily badges,” says Asbury Park Beach Safety Supervisor Joe Bongiovanni. “So, we do have an unlimited number that will be on sale here. People are not guaranteed a beach pass if they come here, but it's going to be a first-come, first-serve basis.”
Boardwalk food establishments and concession stands will be open for grab-and-go only. There are no benches, no tables set up and the popular "Beach Bar" for now will remain closed.
Different communities have different rules and capacity limitations. For more information on each individual area, click Monmouth County or Ocean County.
