Tropical Storm Fay is expected to impact New Jersey Friday morning, bringing heavy rain, strong winds and dangerous rip currents to the Jersey Shore.
There were many people on the beaches of Asbury Park Thursday morning because of the sunny skies and warmer temperatures. But rip currents at the beach were strong as the storm heads toward the coast.

Caylie Reilly came to the beach with family and friends.
“Scary at points if you get caught in the rip currents. But calm if you’re just in like the waves when they’re not that big,” she says.
But even when the weather is nice, the ocean can be unforgiving.
“Last week me and my two boys, we actually saved a girl and stabilized the situation, little girl on a boogie board…lifeguards here were awesome,” says Noah Dekoyer, of Lyndhurst.
Asbury Park lifeguards tell News 12 New Jersey that they haven’t had to make many rescues this summer, but they say that Friday’s storm could make for a rough ocean for several days. They say that this is why it is important to only swim in the ocean near a lifeguard and to not go into the ocean when lifeguards are off duty.
Friday’s storm is expected to start early in the morning and is expected to last for most of the day.
