There are plenty of takeoffs and landings at Joint Base McGuire-Dix-Lakehurst, but one flight this week was especially meaningful.

Col. Kay Hasson, commander of the 305th Mobility Wing, completed her final flight before retiring from the U.S. Air Force. Known as a “fini flight,” the tradition marks a pilot’s last flight before retirement.

After landing her C-17 Globemaster, one of the largest cargo aircraft in the world, Hasson was greeted by two very special people - her daughters - who helped marshal the aircraft to its parking spot.

Hasson has spent 26 years flying the C-17 and has led the 305th Mobility Wing for the past several years. Her dedication and leadership have made her a role model for young women aspiring to serve in aviation and the military.
