The Toms River Little League 12U girls softball team is headed to the Little League World Series.
The team captured the New Jersey state championship before traveling to Bristol, Connecticut, where they were crowned Mid-Atlantic Region champions to earn a spot in the World Series in Greenville, North Carolina.
The team departs Wednesday morning, when they’ll be honored with a community send-off with a police and fire department escort beginning at 8 a.m.
In a message celebrating the team’s achievement, the league said, “From the first practice to the final out, these girls have played with heart, resilience, and an unwavering belief in one another.”
