2h agoTuesday marked 93 years since Navy pilot Ralph Barnaby made aviation history in New Jersey.
The Navy attached a glider under the airship USS Los Angeles on January 31, 1930.
The idea was that Barnaby would fly the plane off the airship and land. The flight took place above Atlantic City.
Barnaby was the first glider pilot in Navy history.
The airship then returned to Lakehurst.
