After months of investigation, authorities busted a Jersey City recording studio they say was a front for drug dealers.
Block Royal recording studio had a space in the back of Sweet?s Barber Shop on Christopher Columbus Drive. According to Hudson County Prosecutor Ed DeFazio, the studio was a front for a heroin and cocaine operation.
Investigators said they seized $75,000 worth of heroin, $30,000 worth of cocaine and four handguns. In all, 24 people were arrested beginning in December and ending last month. DeFazio said investigators staked out the building to watch activities and used phone taps for six months before the arrests started.
Those owners and close associates of Block Royal accused of heading the operation face federal charges of drug possession and distribution. They could face up to 20 years behind bars.
