City Hall in Jersey City could soon be getting a makeover after council members approved a resolution Wednesday night.
The resolution designates city hall and two other lots nearby as being in need of redevelopment. The move allows the city to rezone the lots.
Under one proposal, an old parking lot would be sold to a developer. That money would be used to pay for renovations to city hall, a building which dates back some 115 years.
A recent report says the building, its parking lot and other outside areas are in dire need of renovations.
The city would still need the approval of the planning board and a final council vote.
