Jersey City is reinstating two police officers who were fired in 2019 after testing positive for marijuana, following a state order requiring their employment be restored.
Officers Darnell Brown and Luis Santiago argue their firings violated New Jersey's medical marijuana law, under which they had legal prescriptions. A state judge agreed, ruling the city improperly terminated the officers whose records show they were not impaired on duty.
The judge ordered the city to reinstate both officers.
