A Jersey City police officer is being called a hero after miraculously rescuing a 1-month-old baby dropped out of a second-floor balcony.
Jersey City police officers were called to a home on Rose Avenue on Saturday with reports of a baby in danger.
The baby was caught by Officer Eduardo Matute, who was one of several officers positioned below the balcony.
Officials say the man dropped the infant after a lengthy standoff and negotiations.
Neighbors tell News 12 all they could do was watch in horror.
The relationship between the baby and the man is still unclear, but officials say the man was arrested and is facing charges.
