Twenty-seven people were displaced today when a fire broke out at an apartment complex in Jersey City. One woman was taken to the hospital for smoke inhalation.
The fire happened at 48 Clifton Place in a two-story occupied dwelling with 18 apartments, according to city officials. They say the fire extended in the walls to the first and second floors.
City officials say 19 adults and eight children will be relocated by the Red Cross. No injuries were reported to first responders.
There is no word on the cause of the fire although officials say the fire appears to have started in the basement.
