A Jersey City man has been charged with murder in connection with a fatal shooting inside an apartment earlier this week, according to the Hudson County Prosecutor’s Office.
Jalil Harley, 25, was arrested Thursday and charged with murder, possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose and unlawful possession of a weapon. He was taken to the Hudson County Correctional Facility pending his first court appearance.
Jersey City police responded shortly after 8 p.m. Tuesday to a report of an injured man inside an apartment at 200 Cornelison Avenue. Officers found 38-year-old Omar Smith, of Jersey City, unresponsive with an apparent gunshot wound. He was pronounced dead at the scene.

The prosecutor’s office said the shooting is being investigated as a domestic dispute. Authorities did not provide additional details about the circumstances or the relationship between Harley and Smith.
