A Jersey City landlady who left her tenants in the cold is now in hot water.
Insuk Parfinity says she doesn?t like to turn on the heat because it?s expensive. However, she is accused of forcing her tenants in the six-family building on Neptune Avenue in the Greenville section to shiver. One tenant says he has been without heat for as long as four years. Some tenants say they just rely on space heaters because Parfinity won?t turn on the heat.
A judge ordered Parfinity to replace broken heaters, but tenants say they are still without heat. The municipal court has been battling with Parfinity over the heating issues. A city-appointed rent receiver took over one of the four buildings Parfinity owns. The rent receiver plans to use the rent money to make emergency repairs.
