Some may say better late than never.
A Passaic County couple has gotten engaged 45 years after they first met while in high school.
David Dadian met Gayle Nicholas at Hawthorne High School in the 1970s. He says that he always liked her but thought that she was out of his league.
The two lost touch over the years but reunited at a class reunion. David asked Gayle to marry him Thursday at the high school where they first met. The couple says that it was worth the wait.
“It’s fun to be 60 and just recreating our life map, so one thing at a time,” Gayle says.
“Marriage, retirement, relaxing a little bit – that’s what’s next,” says David.
The couple also released balloons in honor of their late parents.
