The Italian flag was raised alongside an American Flag at the Union County Courthouse in Elizabeth to commemorate Columbus Day on Monday.

The flag-raising took place on Friday. It was to honor the achievements and contributions of Italian-Americans.

At the event, the Union County Board of Commissioners also honored various Italian-American organizations.
