Police are searching for the individual who shot an Irvington police officer Monday morning.
The officer was shot in the leg while off duty and returned fire. Officials say the suspect attempted to rob the officer. The incident occurred outside an apartment building on Chancelor Avenue near Sheridan Street. It is not known if the shooter was hit, but that individual is considered armed and dangerous.
The officer was taken to UMDNJ and is in stable condition.
